So, this morning, I got up, and had a throbbing pain in my foot. Given the fact that I assaulted my ~150 pound desk (that's about 70 kilos for you overseas persons) with the top of my right foot last night, it's to be expected. Still is throbbing if I move it, and the tennis shoes I'm wearing may not be the best idea. The tongue is pressing down rather firmly on them. *pouts* Two emails from the department... TA Meeting and a Potluck dinner on the 26th. To welcome the new grad students. And all I was thinking was about a joke someone once told me. A teacher in a school told her students to bring in a symbol of whatever religion they ascribed to. The Jewish children brought in a Star of David, or a yarmulke or whatever. The Catholic children brought in rosaries, or crucifixes or the like. The Southern Baptist kid in the class brought a casserole. And here I am thinking, these poor kids. They come off the plane to America, and are dumped in with a whole bunch of crazies, who are basically welcoming them. 'Welcome to Central Texas, a land of conservative and close-minded Christians. Some of them won't like you, or will complain about your accent when you're their TAs. We even had an international student hit with a baseball bat last semester, so if that happens, let us know! Oh and by the way, here's a casserole.' I dunno what I should cook. Maybe dessert. Current Mood: cynical Current Music: "Don't Phunk with my Heart" -BEP
